What is a moot court competition?
Moot court competitions are an extracurricular activity in which law students take part in simulated court proceedings. The competition usually involves drafting memorials and oral pleadings. The International Investment Law Centre Cologne encourages students to participate in international legal competitions in the field of international investment law. The moot court experience involves many advantages, such as
- Discovering international law practice while obtaining course credit.
- Developing and improving effective advocacy skills
- Getting to know different cultures and legal systems
- Meeting distinguished attorneys and judges that practice international law and create an
international law network
How can I participate?
Students interested in having fun, while engaging in a challenging litigation and international law experience, are ideal for this program. All students are invited to apply for either the Foreign Direct Investment Moot or the Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court.

Moot Court Training Workshops
Every year, the IILCC organises a training workshop for the FDI Moot Court in cooperation with universities. The participants are prepared for the Moot Court by simulated pleadings and subject-related lectures.
