Doctoral network - International Investment Law

The sense of the doctoral network is to enable doctoral candidates from this field of law to exchange views. It can be discussed topics from your own doctoral thesis, current developments as well as general questions concerning the writing of a doctoral thesis. Furthermore, the participants will have the opportunity to give a presentation to the other doctoral candidates as the whish. In addition, conferences or other professional events can be attended together.

The network meetings are held regularly (quarterly), but also at short notice after major events (ad hoc meetings) that have significant legal implications. Important judgments such as CETA-opinion of the European Court of Justice, the CETA ruling of the BVerfG and the award of the Vattenfall case against Germany are expected in 2018.  The individual meetings take place in the premises of the International Center for Investment Law Cologne (IILCC) - Habsburgerring 1, 50674 Cologne. The dates will be announced on the website of IILCC.

The doctoral network International Investment Law is not only aimed at doctoral candidates in this field of law. Doctoral candidates from all areas of international (public) commercial law, arbitration or international law are cordially invited. Questions of European law relating to the EU's external action can be also discussed at our meetings. Last but not least, doctoral students who have started their dissertation projects in other areas, but wish to integrate aspects of one of the above-mentioned fields of law into their work, can also be a part of our network meetings.
